Official channels for tenants

NYC 311 — Report Housing Problems

File maintenance complaints (pests, heat, mold, etc.) via NYC 311. HPD schedules inspections and issues violations.

NYC HPD — Tenant Information

NYS DHCR — Rent Regulation

For rent stabilization and rent control matters, NYS DHCR is the authoritative state agency. Their website has tenant guides and complaint processes.

NYC Right to Counsel — Free Legal Help

Income-eligible tenants in Housing Court eviction proceedings may qualify for free legal representation under NYC's Right to Counsel programme. See NYC HRA.
